Casa Rovai Bed and Breakfast is located on the first floor (no lift) of an ancient Florentine building at n. 1 Fiesolana street, in the historical small quarter of San Pier Maggiore, between Santa Croce Church and the Duomo.
The road is close to the second circle of the ancient walls of the city.
Casa Rovai Bed and Breakfast is easily reachable from the main train station Santa Maria Novella on foot (15 minutes), by taxi or by bus (n. 14, stop Ghibellina 2).
Despite being a B&B in the center of Florence, Casa Rovai Guest House is very quiet and noiseless since all our rooms overlook inner courtyards.
All main attractions as the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, the Florence Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Giotto’s Bell Tower and the most beautiful churches of Florence are just at a walking distance!
The Teatro Verdi and The Teatro della Pergola, two of the most representative theatres, are right next B&B Casa Rovai, and for those who love classical music and the Italian opera the city teather Teatro Comunale, where every year takes place the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, is reachable in 10 minutes walking.
And.. what about shopping?
Santa Croce’s area is the ideal place with its many historic artisanal shops selling handmade leather accessories (the famous School of Leather is placed right in the spaces of the old novitiate of the Basilica), jewels, and vintage boutiques! But if you are looking for something more designer don’t forget to visit Via Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova, near Piazza Repubblica, a ten minute walk from Casa Rovai, where you will find the most famous brands: Ferragamo, Prada, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Cavalli, Armani.
How to reach us..
We are about a 15 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station ( the main train station ) You may walk if you do not have heavy luggage.
From the main train station, ( http://maps.google.it/maps?f=q&q=via+fiesolana+1+firenze&zoom=0&zp=DLU) walk all along VIA PANZANI and then along VIA CERRETANI until you reach the Cathedral. Walk across Piazza del Duomo and you will find Via dell’Oriuolo. Go straight until you reach Piazza Salvemini, turn left into Via Fiesolana. We are on your left hand side, number 1 (IN BLUE COLOUR!!! NOT RED, red is for shops/business), right in front of number 6.
From the train station there are taxis, and buses – by taxi the cost is about 12.00 Euro, by bus we are reachable in 7 stops (15 minutes). The bus stop is on the left side when you leave the station (you will have to cross the street at the traffic lights in front of the station). We would suggest you buy the tickets at the train station – you will find newspaper shops where to buy them.
Take bus number 23 (direction Sorgane or Nave a Rovezzano) and get off at Agenzia del Territorio in Via dell’Agnolo. Walk straight and take the first on the right (Via Verdi). Go to the traffic lights and keep going straight and you will be in Via Fiesolana). We are on the left hand side, at number 1 in blue colour (infront of number 6 in blue colour)
We would like to stress that reaching Florence by car can very often make you go crazy, because the city, though very small, is very often congested by traffic! In addition Florence city centre is pedestrian or restricted traffic area and it can be very difficult to drive!
Otherwise, should you arrive by car, you can build your itinerary finding us on the Google maps:
There is a private garage (Autoparking Garage) just two minutes walk far from here in Via Fiesolana (number 19, left hand side of the street) that costs 28 to 30 Euros per night depending on the size of the car. We will be happy to book the parking space for your car..
Two other options would be:
a public space near the motorway (“Viale Europa”), it would cost 13 Euros per day and you could reach us by bus from that parking (price for the bus ticket 1 Euro), in around 30 minutes http://www.firenzeparcheggi.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=90&Itemid=87
a public parking less than 10 minutes walking from our house (“Piazza Beccaria”) http://www.firenzeparcheggi.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=87&Itemid=79 price would be 20 Euros per day)
We are 4miles ( 8Km ) far from Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci- from there to the main station there is a city-bus or you can take a taxi directly to us at a cost of about 25.00 EURO
